new logo proposal for rob

Author: webee | Filed under: makin'of, my work

robcubbon is a freelance designer in london who’s just got incorporated. and is now looking to recreate it’s corporate visual elements.
he’s started with his logo. and has presented his first logo proposal here.

i too have decided o create one logo proposal for him:

rob cubbon logo

and this is a short argument for this logo proposal:
- i think rob is right when deciding to focus it’s logo on presenting his name.
- i tried to enhance and strengthen the focus on the name by different fonts and colours.
- rob cubbon’s name: i’ve used brisk, font with rounded corners which is (in my opinion) easier to read.
- “ltd”: written with 2tech, gives sobriety (through the font used) and dinamism (through colour) while still letting the name to gain the most visibility.

btw: here’s a good collection of free fonts.

what do you think?
- should rob consider another strategy when designing his logo?
- what do you think about the composition?
- what do you think about the colours and/or fonts?

thanks again for the comments!

  1. Thanks webee, how much do I owe you! (joke)

    1. I like the brisk font. Especially the way the “u” and “n” are the same shape and then the “c” is pretty similar too - I think this really works in a logo.

    2. I liked the way I balanced the “Rob Cubbon Ltd” but I equally liked the way you’ve diminished the “Ltd” and sort of superscripted it. Very clever!

    3. I don’t like the 2tech. Looks a bit amateur to me :)
    4. The two radically different colours, orange and blue, are fine for large corporates where they are everywhere. But for little old me I think I should have only one or, if two, closer together spectrum-wise.

Great idea for a post, webee! I’m going to have another go at my logo soon and will get back to you.

    Bye for now!

    Rob

  2. hi rob,

haha! you owe me now about 2 houses in brasil, and at least 8 beautiful yellow ferrari!
    now i’m joking offcourse!

i really hope this has helped you! if not with inspiration… at least with some traffic :) .

    webee

  3. Yellow Ferrari? :)
What’s the idea behind the logo?

  4. Hi webee,

The keys to the houses and the Ferraris are … coming :) Have a look here http://robcubbon.com/designing-your-own-logo/
At both the website header and the comments. I’ve added some curves and used your idea for the “Ltd”. What do you think?

    Rob

  5. @david:
well you know yellow is the actual official colour of ferrari :)
i intended to create a simple an easy to remember logo promoting the name of an entrepreneur.
it’s true though it doesn’t define the working field. but it should be but i think this could be defined maybe with a tagline.

    @rob:
i’m glad you really liked my idea of the superscripted “ltd” :)
i’m still for separation of the two elements composing the logo by color two. it’s true though this might break the balance in your copy…

  6. I like the logo, great use of fonts. Though I would choose a different colour for the rob cubbin. Maybe a bit less purple and more light, but great simple logo

  7. hi ricki,

    thanks for the comment!
i actually like the focus equilibrium between rob’s name and “ltd” established through this set of colors. when referring to purple do you mean the color of ltd?
