i’ve seen reviews for a lot of fonts.

but the one i like the most is myriad pro. this is why:

  1. it works for both text and display typography
  2. it’s great for big and/or small fonts in layouts
  3. it’s a 4o members familly font
  4. it’s a sans serif typeface which makes it more readable
  5. …..

  6. and hei! apple chose myriad pro semibold for the ipod logo :) see?

to ease ur wating for the result of the teahouse print i share with you my latest finding:
emory’s got a cool blog with some nice black and white fotos.

that’s got me thinking that a cool black’n'white design can be sometimes much more expressive than a colourfull one. in fact in black’n'white is quite suited when transmitting a simple and direct message.

here’s 2 examples i did just for the fun of it:

i’ve seen a big “don’t” today.

it’s about how a designer should not to create a brochure:
you should never position a picture of your product at the cutting edge of 2 pages! never!
it will show up like this:
baxiâ??s brochure.

see how the two pages divide the image in two parts and one of them is “higher” than the other?
see how a bit of the product, right in the middle, is cut off from the original picture?

why is that? well:
1. cutting: no matter how short is the stack of sheets cut in the guillotine and no matter how talented the cutting operator is (that is if the cutter is non-automatic), there WILL be cutting errors.
2. staple’ing: the same: you WILL get errors. stapples ar in this case the reason for wich a part of the picture “has magically disappeared”…

don’t get me wrong!
i’m not telling you never to use your pages’ borders for design elements! just don’t expect that you will succeed to include continuous elements from a page to another.

baxi shouldn’t have accepted this
